*Note, Obviously adding all of these would be a lot to ask but I thought it would be best to include as many ideas as possible:
Medieval Kitchen & Tavern Expansion
I would love to see a Medieval Kitchen & Tavern expansion added to the FARMING Add-On.
FARMING already has an excellent foundation of crops, animals, food, drinks, kitchenware, cooking appliances, plates, and decorative food. A medieval-themed expansion could build directly on those existing systems and give players more tools to create medieval farmhouses, kitchens, bakeries, taverns, castles, inns, and village builds.
The goal wouldn’t just be to add decorations. Ideally, many of these items could be functional cooking or food-preparation stations, while also being useful as decorations when not being used.
Suggested Features
- Medieval Hearth
A large stone or brick fireplace designed as the centerpiece of a medieval kitchen.
Possible variations:
- Stone
- Brick
- Cobblestone
- Deepslate
- Sandstone
- Different wood-trim options
The hearth could be used with cooking pots, cauldrons, roasting spits, pans, kettles, and skewers.
- Roasting Spit
A wooden and iron spit that could be placed over a hearth to roast meat.
Possible foods could include:
- Chicken
- Turkey
- Duck
- Goose
- Beef
- Pork
- Mutton
- Rabbit
- Venison
It would be especially great if large roasts could remain on the spit as decorative food after cooking.
- Large Copper/Iron Cauldron
A larger version of the existing cooking-pot concept, designed to sit over a medieval hearth.
It could be used for:
- Stews
- Soups
- Pottage
- Porridge
- Vegetable dishes
- Meat stews
- Preserves
- Jam
- Sauces
- Gravy
Seeing the ingredients inside the cauldron change while cooking would make it both functional and visually interesting.
- Stone Bread Oven
A dedicated medieval stone or brick oven for bakeries and farmhouses.
It could be used for:
- Rustic bread
- Whole wheat loaves
- Rolls
- Pies
- Tarts
- Pastries
- Meat pies
- Fruit pies
- Roasted vegetables
A visible fire and smoke effect while cooking would be a great touch.
- Butter Churn
A traditional wooden butter churn that allows players to turn milk into butter.
Milk → Butter Churn → Butter
Butter could then be used in bread, pastries, pies, cakes, sauces, and other recipes.
The churn would also make an excellent farmhouse decoration.
- Cheese Press
A functional cheese-making station.
Milk → Cheese Press → Cheese Wheel
Different cheese varieties could potentially be added, such as soft cheese, aged cheese, herb cheese, or cheddar-style cheese.
Cheese wheels could also be placed on tables, shelves, and cheese racks.
- Mortar & Pestle
A medieval preparation station that could work alongside the existing Spice Mill.
Possible uses:
- Grinding herbs
- Making seasonings
- Grinding pepper
- Preparing spices
- Creating flour or other powdered ingredients
It would also be a great small decorative item for kitchen counters.
- Drying Rack
A wooden rack for displaying and potentially processing:
- Herbs
- Mushrooms
- Meat
- Fish
- Fruit
- Vegetables
Even if some items were decorative only, hanging herbs, meats, and vegetables would add a lot of atmosphere to medieval kitchens and farmhouses.
- Hanging Pots & Pans
Wall-mounted and hanging kitchenware would make medieval kitchens feel much more lived-in.
Examples:
- Copper pots
- Iron pots
- Copper pans
- Iron pans
- Kettles
- Wooden spoons
- Ladles
- Knives
- Cleavers
- Strainers
- Skewers
A wall covered with hanging copper cookware would look fantastic.
- Bread & Pastry Display System
Give players more ways to display bakery items around their builds.
Examples:
- Bread baskets
- Loaf racks
- Cooling racks
- Pastry trays
- Bread boards
- Pie displays
- Cake displays
- Flour bowls
- Dough tables
This would be especially useful for building medieval bakeries, kitchens, and food shops.
- Barrels, Crates, Baskets & Sacks
FARMING already contains a huge variety of crops and food, so storage decorations would fit perfectly.
Possible additions:
- Apple baskets
- Potato baskets
- Wheat baskets
- Carrot baskets
- Onion baskets
- Berry baskets
- Vegetable crates
- Fruit crates
- Bread baskets
- Fish baskets
- Egg baskets
- Flour sacks
- Grain sacks
- Small barrels
- Large barrels
It would be great if some containers could visibly display the FARMING items inside them.
- Tavern Furniture
Expand the medieval theme beyond the kitchen and allow players to build complete taverns and inns.
Possible additions:
- Tavern tables
- Benches
- Stools
- Bar counters
- Tavern shelves
- Serving counters
- Food displays
- Serving trays
- Mugs
- Barrels
- Tavern signs
- Menus
- Fireplace tools
This could make FARMING incredibly useful for medieval roleplay builds.
- Medieval Feast Foods
Add dishes that make sense with ingredients already available in FARMING.
Roasts
- Roast Chicken
- Roast Turkey
- Roast Duck
- Roast Goose
- Roast Venison
- Roast Rabbit
- Roast Beef
- Roast Mutton
- Meat Skewers
- Herb-Roasted Meat
Stews & Soups
- Hearty Beef Stew
- Venison Stew
- Rabbit Stew
- Vegetable Pottage
- Mushroom Pottage
- Potato Pottage
- Root Vegetable Stew
- Onion Soup
- Herb Soup
Other Foods
- Rustic Bread
- Honey Bread
- Herb Bread
- Garlic Bread
- Meat Pie
- Chicken Pie
- Vegetable Pie
- Berry Tart
- Apple Tart
- Honey Tart
- Rustic Fruit Pie
The recipes could primarily use crops, animals, and ingredients that FARMING already provides.
- Medieval Bakery Foods
A dedicated medieval bakery section could include:
- Rustic bread
- Whole wheat bread
- Honey bread
- Herb bread
- Garlic bread
- Rolls
- Meat pies
- Chicken pies
- Vegetable pies
- Apple pies
- Berry tarts
- Honey tarts
- Pastries
It would also be great to have a simple progression such as:
Wheat → Flour → Dough → Bread Oven → Baked Bread
This would give existing FARMING crops even more purpose.
- Pantry & Cellar Decorations
A medieval kitchen should have somewhere to store everything.
Possible additions:
- Pickle jars
- Jam jars
- Preserves
- Vegetable crates
- Cheese racks
- Hanging herbs
- Flour sacks
- Grain sacks
- Mushroom baskets
- Root vegetable storage
- Wooden shelves
- Stone shelves
- Food cupboards
- Storage barrels
This could make pantries and cellars feel like an actual part of the FARMING gameplay loop.
- Dedicated Medieval Section in the Cookbook
Since FARMING already has the Cookbook, a dedicated Medieval Recipes section would be perfect.
Possible categories:
- Bread & Bakery
- Roasts
- Stews & Soups
- Cheese & Dairy
- Preserves
- Herbs & Spices
- Drinks
- Desserts
- Tavern Foods
- Feast Foods
This would make the new content much easier to discover and would tie the entire expansion together.
The Overall Gameplay Loop
What I think would make this idea especially strong is connecting the new features into an actual progression:
Farm → Harvest → Storage → Preparation → Cooking → Plating → Feast
For example:
Wheat → Flour → Dough → Bread Oven → Bread → Feast Table
Milk → Butter Churn / Cheese Press → Butter / Cheese → Pantry → Serving Table
Meat → Butcher Block → Prepared Meat → Roasting Spit / Cauldron / Oven → Roast → Serving Platter
This would make the medieval content feel like a natural extension of FARMING rather than simply being a collection of decorative blocks.
FARMING already provides the ingredients. A Medieval Kitchen & Tavern expansion could provide the tools, atmosphere, recipes, and food-preparation features needed to bring those ingredients to life.
